Wilson Bobcat Gear
A look back at the wonderful
2022-23 school year
at Wilson Elementary!!
My name is Greg Mason. My education career started in the Chicago Public School (CPS) system. I was a teacher for 8 years. I spent 5 years working in the CPS district office. Next, I moved on to become an Assistant Principal (AP) at a Kindergarten -3rd elementary school. During my tenure as the AP, I co-led a grant that allowed us to become the first elementary school in Chicago to focus on engineering. Following the experience, I became a principal. During that time, our school continued to show student growth as measured by state and national exams. Under my leadership, the school consecutively made the State of Illinois Honor Roll for closing the achievement gap.
And now, I am proud and excited to serve as the new principal for Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Calumet City, home of the Bobcats!
A school building is filled with learning, thinking and emotions. The ability to think and learn in school must be cultivated by creating a sense of belonging in the schoolhouse. Students, teachers and parents must feel that they are valued, loved and appreciated.
As a Wilson parent, you can expect that all students will be valued, loved and appreciated. Every classroom in every hallway will promote the genius in every student. All students will be pushed and challenged to success to their maximum performance. Our teachers will appreciate our students’ diverse ways of thinking and learning by creating an environment that showcases all students' amazing talents and gifts here at Wilson. For we are home of the Bobcats!
On a personal note, my wife (Tanya) and I have two sons (Gregory and Timothy). As a parent, I value, love and appreciate my two sons. And I really enjoy watching them continue to grow and develop. It is this same feeling I have for all children: enjoy watching them continue to grow and develop. We teach to change the world. I want my children and your students to have the same opportunity to grow and develop and add value to our society.
I look forward to meeting you and your amazing students. If you ever need to reach me, please do not hesitate to reach out to the office at 708-862-5166 or email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
